ONRG was tasked with managing the works and representing the client to assure quality during the works. ONRG managed the QA works and system configurations required to maintain maximum network availability.
“To have a central coordinating function that not only managed the work, but both understood and could practically implement was invaluable to the project.”
Ademir Nieto Commissioning Manager at Iberdrola Engineering and Construction
Work and project management
At ONRG, our focus is to develop the solution with that client that satisfies a competing set of objectives, which include business objectives, good industry practices, manufacturer’s requirements and, in this case, requirements of the future owner. Hence, for ONRG, it is not just a case of implementing a task, but also managing the stakeholders, planning and reporting.
Safety from the System
Work management on a transmission asset is built on a foundation of effectively implementing the high voltage safety rules HVSR. For this example, ONRG utilised the client’s HVSR by training and developing competencies, facilitating authorisation of personnel and implementing the requirements to optimise workflow. This resulted in a stronger depth of resources, enhancing resilience, and reduced cost.
Quality Assurance
Ensuring the integrity of the cables for the future life of the asset is equally important as to ensuring the work is completed to the required standard. Hence ONRG maintained constant vigilance of the works to verify both that the cables were being handled in accordance with good industry practice and that the actuals works were compliant with the specification. An additional benefit of this was in identifying improvement opportunities that reduced downtime and the duration of the project, all whilst ensuring a proactive health and safety culture.
